CRUNCH! That was the sound of my nose breaking as I hit the floor.
“Next time, listen to us,” Thomas Drake snarled from above me, “When we say do something, you hop to it,”
“ Y-yes, Sir,” I answered feebly. He gave me one last glare and walked away from me, followed by his companions, all no doubt taking the piss out of me. I slowly sat up, my heading pounding and sweat dripped between my shoulder blades.

Sunday Short: The Haunting of Jack Thomas

“The Glass Hall is haunted,” I overheard a fifth-year telling a younger boy who looked at the fifteen-year-old with wide eyes of awe and wonder. I had heard the story many times before, but I will recite it for you: Dragonstar Hall was once an old mansion with many secret passageways; one such was a tunnel that led from a courtyard to the outhouse. The courtyard was enclosed by the new dorm building on one side and a glass Hallway that went from the new building to the old one. Many years ago, the young wife of Richard Carrington was having an illicit affair with the Ostler, and the lord of the manor found out. He killed the Ostler in the tunnel beneath the glass hall, so now the ghost of the Ostler haunts the corridor.

Sirius Black sat at his desk reviewing several sheaves of parchment for the Wizengamot session that was coming up. But his mind was elsewhere; he was worried about Hermione Granger and his son.  Cepheus had sent a letter to him to say Harry had been ignoring him for the last few days. Reports from inside the school and the latest Witch Weekly indicated that Hermione had split up with Harry. A chime bought him out of his musings, a face appeared in the fireplace.
